Colour is having its moment, transforming our interiors and lifting our spirits. From big bold hues that breathe life into any space to striking shades of cream, colour and techniques such as double drenching are set to influence the look of where we live in the coming months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThink of paint as \u2018dopamine dressing\u2019 for the ceiling and walls, says Emma. Choose shades that not only look good but make you feel good.\u201d Here are our current favourite colour trends for 2025.<\/p>\n

This warm, seductive burgundy-like shade was popular at this year\u2019s Milan design week. Perfect for intimate lounges and modern furnishings, its deep, velvety elegance also works beautifully as paint. Pair with blues, soft golds and natural textures to transform it into an intimate, sensual retreat that\u2019s both timeless and contemporary.<\/p>\n

Mink<\/h4>\n

Another colour trend that continues to be popular is the use of rich, earthy shades, along with mink \u2013 a soft, muted taupe with a hint of warmth. Andy Greenall, Creative Director at Paint & Paper Library, tells us:<\/p>\n

\u201cMoving away from impersonal and stark bright whites, kitchen design schemes are becoming more considered, with schemes reflecting the wider interior aesthetic of a home. Richer, mood-setting colours are being used to great effect in combination across woodwork, cabinetry and walls. \u2018Mink\u2019 is a wonderfully versatile, warm, pink-based neutral that adds depth and warmth to kitchen walls. Pair with the enigmatic, deep red-brown \u2018Scarlet \u2018n\u2019 Rust\u2019 for a sophisticated, timeless scheme.\u201d<\/p>\n

As John Ruskin said: \u201cIt is the best possible sign of a colour when nobody who sees it knows what to call it\u201d. And we couldn\u2019t agree more. This not quite woad, not quite sea green colour has a moody, grounding quality that suits strong or snug spaces such as reading nooks. Pair with indigo or silver for a sophisticated contrast or combine with warm neutrals like soft beige or creamy white for a balance, calming effect.<\/p>\n

Pink-white<\/h4>\n

This beautiful neutral with an undertone of pink blushes out the brightness of pure white. Offering a softness that feels both contemporary and timeless, it is ideal for creating balanced spaces or adding contrast. The new trend for double drenching <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Traditionally, interior schemes use colours with different tonal variations on walls, skirting and ceilings to create harmony. Double drenching \u2013 an extension of the colour drenching concept, which involves using the same hue across the scheme – throws out the rule book by combining different hues with the same intensity in your interior scheme to dramatic effect.<\/p>\n

\u201cBecause these new double-drenched schemes are built on strong shades, \u2018mid tone\u2019 and deeper colours are coming to the fore, being used alongside brighter fresher highlight colours on window frames and doors. This more confident palette of colours will be embraced in 2025.\u201d Ruth Mottershead, Creative Director at Little Greene<\/p>\n

Of course, walls and woodwork aren\u2019t the only surfaces to consider. Ceilings are increasingly getting the attention they deserve.<\/p>\n

Ruth Mottershead, Creative Director at Little Greene, says: \u201cWhen considering your design scheme, including the ceiling has become increasingly important and has a big impact on how the room will feel. Often painted white out of habit, we have seen a move away from the neutral creams and whites for ceilings, with customers opting for bolder colours for a more immersive look.\u201d<\/p>\n
