A stunning 18th century manor house set in the Surrey Hills. After full renovation and restoration, we introduced rich colours and impactful room schemes to complement the original features and create a family home.

The Brief

The owners wanted to modernise their country home whilst retaining its original character and showcasing their art and antiques collection. They wanted a high end finish throughout whilst still offering practical and inviting spaces for family living. Extensive bespoke joinery was required for display and storage.

Design Principles

The central hallway’s original black oiled timber flooring became the backdrop for the rich, autumnal colour schemes we introduced into the living spaces. We created a ‘Member’s Club’ drawing room and chose furniture to complement the original features, from the stone fireplaces to the ornate cornicing.

We displayed the client’s traditional art and antiques alongside contemporary feature pieces, using modernist lamps and sculptural accessories to add an eclectic aesthetic.

The hand-printed linens and natural textures were accented with pops of colour that created a contemporary feel and added layers of interest and comfort throughout the house. Extensive joinery was created to suit the family’s lifestyle, from shelving in the library to the media wall, bespoke dressing rooms and built-in study areas for the children’s bedrooms.

Upstairs we created a relaxed and tranquil retreat with a boutique hotel finish, from the marble bathrooms to the deep carpets and quirky furnishings.
