New build Californian farmstead-style residence with extensive grounds including stabling and car barn.

This open plan barn features a modern design complimenting the original elements such as the exposed wood beams within the vaulted ceiling. Black crittall window doors either side of the living area create a light and bright space. The living area includes a neutral linen L shaped sofa dressed with plenty of green and mustard patterned cushions. A set of two patterned upholstered round footstools and a solid wood irregular shaped coffee table in front of the sofa. A vase of foliage and books style the coffee table. A wood and boucle accent chair to the left of the cage sits beside a wall featuring the framed fireplace and wall mounted TV. Behind the living area, a large dining area with a tall cabinet to the left. A patterned rug beneath the dining table helps to zone the space along with a large rug within the living area. Above the dining table, a set of two ceramic cone shaped pendants hang centrally.

This unique Californian-style farmstead, being built at a stunning location close to London, is a series of barns in natural finishes, including cedar shingles, black Siberian larch cladding and Purbeck stone exterior.

The family ‘barn’ wing has kitchen and catering areas and extensive entertaining space with beamed interior vaulting. The pool and spa wing also has as an outdoor kitchen area.

The Brief...

Full interior design including architectural and lighting specification, fixtures and finishes and full schemes. Full bathroom design and specification. Full joinery design and install including games room and bar around golf simulator area, temperature controlled wine room, full library, playroom, cinema room.

A warm and cosy luxurious drawing room featuring deep tones and warm wood finishes. Two deep burgundy sofas with plenty of patterned cushions, a large wood rectangular coffee table featuring books sits between the sofas and mid century style accent chairs framing a formal layout. On the right hand side of the room, a grey stone fireplace surround with a brass square mirror hung on the wall above. Crittal style doors leading to outdoors beside the fireplace are dressed with floor length curtains on a black pole. Exposed wood beams on the ceiling add warmth with the wood door to the room on the right hand side. In the centre of the room, a burgundy fringe style pendant hangs. Along the back wall, two full height windows again dressed with the same curtains. Between the two windows, a neutral square piece of art hangs with a black and neutral floor lamp sat in front. In front of each of the windows on this wall, a large potted olive tree. On the floor, a large square jute rug sits beneath the living room furniture zoning and grounding the space. This sits on a light wood finish herringbone flooring.
Principal Bedroom
The bedroom suite was designed with a comfortable seating area at one end and a contemporary four poster at the other.  A stunning vaulted space with full height crittall windows overlooking farmland with natural fabrics and finishes creating a warm, soft space.  Next door was a spacious bathroom with freestanding tub and shower lined with purbeck stone.  A contemporary dressing room was created in the neighbouring room in natural timbers and stone with atmospheric lighting and bespoke storage.

Spa Room

Lighting was key in this contemporary spa room with fluted walling revealing a sauna and shower rooms and architectural large scale stone walling flowing directly into the pool area for clean lines and continuity.  An oversize sunken spa and lounging/yoga areas make this an all purpose space which opens out to the stunning landscaping in summer months.

A serene modern swimming pool with a bespoke designed sauna in our New Farmhouse Interior Design Project. Modern vertical slat wooden panelling with recessed warm uplighting from the bottom of the wall surrounds the pool and features within the sauna. The sauna is partitioned with a glass screen and door with a wooden bench in the same finish as the wood panelled walls. Grey natural tile flooring is seamless from the sauna to the poolside and within the pool itself.
