Banana silk is made from fibres found in the stem of the banana plant and looks every bit as luxurious as silk. Natural materials such as linens, bamboo, organic cotton and hemp also look great and tick the vegan box.
Vegan fabrics are readily available in stunning prints and designs. If you’re unsure of a fabric’s vegan creds, look for the Soil Association and Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) logos and ask plenty of questions – retailers and suppliers should be transparent about their sourcing and manufacturing.

Vintage linen and cotton is the ultimate in vegan-friendly, sustainable sourcing. The Cloth Shop is a little gem on Portobello Road in London where you can find everything from characterful linen cloth on rolls to vintage printed Indian cottons.
