The house was a large new build just outside the historic city of Winchester and designed for family living with contemporary spaces combined with comfort and colour. The house had a Bulthaup kitchen.
Our client wanted a large, bright kitchen and living area with a TV, fireplace and desk space for home admin. They enjoy entertaining and needed flexible open plan spaces, as well as snug areas for use during the winter months. Having a games room which was suitable for adults and children was an important requirement, along with extensive storage for media units and large dressing rooms. Stylistically they loved the combination of classic features and contemporary interiors.
We contrasted the traditional grandeur of the Georgian architecture with modern light wood flooring, a sleek Balthaup kitchen and colourful, quirky soft furnishings. Using our trusted British designer-makers, we created bespoke lighting, fittings and finishes to bring in a sophisticated aesthetic whilst original art was sourced from local galleries to personalise the space and add character to the home.
A stunning Roger Oates stair runner gave impact to the entrance hall which led off to formal and informal reception rooms, perfect for entertaining weekend guests and relaxing with family.
The entire attic space was transformed into a fantastic games room, complete with a pool table and fully stocked bar area. The sink-in sofas, intelligent lighting system and state-of-the-art home cinema were designed to be boxset-ready for the owners and their weekend guests.
The sumptuous master bedroom had a four poster bed and bespoke dressing room area whilst the Drummonds roll-top bathtub took centre stage in the en-suite. The minimalist Dornbracht hardware and statement marble gave the bathroom its deluxe 5 star hotel finish.
A sense of fun runs through this Georgian country retreat, from the colourful fabrics to the airy kitchen, boutique style bedrooms and family games room. The owners can entertain their guests and relax as a family, set against the stunning backdrop of their contemporary, stylish weekend home.
